Effie slipped the headcollar off her horse and gave him a gentle pat on the rump. The stallion let out a long snort before walking across his showing stall to his haynet. Though he hadn't been competed in a couple of years, he was calm which didn't surprise Effie, given his laid-back, happy go lucky attitude. She felt grateful to own such an honest, graceful animal whom she trusted dearly and although she hadn't known Radisson long, she felt like he'd been apart of her life forever.
Effie's stable hand Mehki had travelled across to Canada with her. It had been 7 hour flight and he was tired but determined to try and make things as easy as possible for Effie. She'd taken a long break from horses but now she had Radisson it was almost like she was learning about horses and the showing world all over again. She'd competed for many years when she was a child, still she felt nervous for her first show since being involved with horses again.
Radisson wasn't your typical stallion, he was far from it. He didn't have an attitude or a bad bone in his body like everyone portrayed stallion's to have, in fact he was gentler than any horse Effie had come across in her years of riding. He seemed to adapt well from being in small rainy England to Canada, surrounded by horses and people. Radisson was once a titled horse with Effie's grandmother but since she'd died he was temporarily retired.
Now, Effie and Mehki were bumbling around trying to prepare for the show and finally they settled down in front of his stall, perching themselves on Effie's giant showing box. They sipped at their mint chocolate flavoured hot drinks and Effie sighed, 'Better hit the hay, we've had a busy day and it's going to be even busier tomorrow.'
