| It all took just one horse. Long ago in Ireland, a poor man lived far from the city, far from everything. He had nothing. Nothing but his land and his crops. He noticed that every day, his crops started to decline. This was no good for the poor man. Night by night he watched his land to finally catch whoever was stealing his crops. The man had no luck. He thought that the thief must have stopped stealing when he saw the man watching. |
So he returned to his cold bed at night, only to find all of his crops gone in the morning! The man had had enough already. instead of watching outside, the man set out some carrots and beets. He watched from his window that night. He wasn't having much luck so far. Just before he dozed off, he saw something. The thief! He had finally caught them!
As the man focused on the robber, he noticed something very odd. The thief was no man, but a horse! The poor man had never seen one in person! He slowly crept outside, with an apple in his hand. The horse came right up to him. The poor thing appeared to be skinny and near death. The old man nursed the horse back to health, and was able to transport his crops to the city with his horse.
That one horse started it all. Soon the man was able to buy a bigger farm, with more animals, including horses. His farm was handed down Generation after Generation and many more after that, to where we are today..
