A Different Kind of Update
ft. Christine Mae, Cora Winters, and me, Denn Hanes
I saw the glow up thread in general chat and it really got me thinking about the old equus and when I first joined. I'm definitely not a true oldie but I think joining in 2012 makes me a bit of one. I went through my photobucket and pulled out whatever I could and this was the result. There are many many more pictures of mine that I lost on other hosting sites but maybe one day I'll be able to find them again. For years I was actually deathly afraid of rejoining the community because I was afraid I would be bombarded with angry people trying to reclaim horses from me. (There are a few in my emails still that I haven't had the courage to revive yet actually.) Anyways I'm not sure if anyone will actually read this but I love looking at old memories so much I just had to share with you guys as well
This was the very first picture I ever edited on here. Back then I had a bit of a thing for Lusitanos though this boy looks a bit more like a haffie.
Not too long after that picture was taken, I found out about Equus Sims. Back then there was also the Shadowfax Stables Western Eventing forum. I was a member there and entered my very first show. You might even recognize that the horse I used was this one, downloaded straight off the exchange and completely unmodified of course.
This was the original character I registered on Equus with, Christine Mae. I honestly have no words. My sense of style was certainly...interesting.
Another show entry of mine here. My character, Christine Mae on a Lusitano stallion in a dressage show.
One of the only shows I ever entered on Equus Sims wasn't that much of a show really. It was more of a fun show meant to show off the bonds between horses. I placed third and felt like such a celebrity.
This is an era some people may actually recognize. I think this is when I really started to figure out my editing style and stand out a bit more. Still not that much. I was still very much a nobody but at least at this point I could blur somewhat decently. You might actually recognize some of these horses today. The two colts are SER Suhaib and DHS Hridaynath (formerly DHS Preetish) who I still have around today.
2013 was when we were moving forums for the first time. I abandoned my old character and took on a new one, Cora Winters and her National Show Horse stable.
That year I also remember applying for an import and recieving this boy: SHEC Donner Ewige. He actually doesn't exist anymore but he was the horse I thought about the most during my years away. I always remembered a beautiful purpley bay horse and I considered coming back just to take pictures of him.
There's definitely more than a gaps in my ES history. I'm missing all the pictures from my Arabian phase, my Lusitano phase, my American Warmblood phase, and my National Show Horse phase. (So basically everything) I came back to this community last summer with just one horse, a purpley bay thing much like the one I lost. In the end he was scrapped too and replaced by another purpley bay, Nilona K.
Today, my most recent screenshot looks like this. This is actually a horse from back then, WRNGS Fiscal Investor. I really am proud of all the progress I've made and I'm so glad I decided to come back to Equus Sims last July. Even though things are so very different from how they used to be, the nostalgia will always be there of course (especially in the form of poorly placed lens flares! )
If you've made it this far, I really applaud you. There are a few people whose names I instantly recognize but if there is anyone else I've talked to in the past that I can't remember, I'd love to know! Back then I was rather shy and didn't have many friends but today I think I've been a lot better at this whole friendship thing
