PHOENIX HILL || ANOTHER RIDE ON GALILEO
Effie flicked a brush across the stallion's coat,he stood munching on his haynet, turning to glance at her every so often. She was thankful that Galileo was back to his normal self, she decided she'd take him out of lessons today and take him to a jumping facility not far from the farm to give him a change of scenery. Slowly, she slipped on his stable boots, tail guard and travel boots and off they went in the trailer.
Once there she spent some more time grooming his mane and tail. She loved spending quality time with him and took things slow so she could appreciate their time together. It wasn't often she got to spend much one to one time with him since she was so busy and he was a lesson horse. He seemed to appreciate it too and lapped up the attention. She brushed delicately through his thick, black tail as another trailer pulled up beside her. That's odd, she thought but carried on grooming nevertheless. She continued to steal glances at the trailer beside hers and noticed a rather tall, pristine looking woman exit her car and unloaded her horse. The horse was a stallion, at least 17hh tall, chestnut coat and absolutely gleaming. Effie smiled and said hello and the woman stared back and smiled slightly, but turned her back on Effie. Eventually, Effie got tacked up and was onboard and began to ride towards the jumping arena. "Um, excuse me? Are you going to be using the arena?" the woman called. Effie glanced back at her and raised her eyebrows, "Yes, everything okay?" She replied. The woman rolled her eyes in a huff, muttering under her breath. How strange, Effie scrunched up her face and rode away from her.
It was only later when Effie got a call from the owner of the arena and she was apologising. "I'm really sorry about that, she's a local, I told her she has to pay to hire the arena just like everybody else but she just keeps turning up and riding when she feels like it," the woman told her, sighing. Effie nodded, though the woman couldn't see her anyway, "That's okay, don't worry about it."
It was evening time and Effie headed back down to the barn to do the evening checks. Once reaching Galileo's field, she stopped at the gate and called his name. The stallion lifted his head and briskly trotted towards her, halting in front of the gate. She pressed a polo to his muzzle and he chomped down on it and nodded his head once and Effie smiled. "Goodnight, Gal."
