Walt had yet another lesson today, in fact he's been out riding pretty much everyday when one of the other two, Mark or Burton go out. This was a little different of a lesson though, It was more experimental if anything.
Burton decided to try out the idea of, having a lesson while both himself and Walt on horseback. He thought of this so Walt could watch and then copy when Burton was doing. Walt again was mostly fixing his basic posture and learning from what Burton was doing. Hence Marquis was usually doing his own thing with his own horses and wasn't always the best example.
Burton's original plan was to have Walt trot by himself off lead line, but that wasn't to happen much because Marquis was riding his very fiery thoroughbred stallion, Robin. ((JS Robin Hood)) While Walt was riding a younger mustang horse, named Tennessee and Burton riding an Irish sport horse name Reno
Walt was a bit anxious the whole lesson, his Fiance who was supposed to be here a few days back had some personal issues going on, then there was issues with transportation and he was finally supposed to arrive today. So understandably, Walt was pretty excited for that. He had a plan in his head and everything for when his Fiance, Winfred, was to show up.
Onto how Marquis's ride went!
Like stated before, Marquis was riding one of his favorite horses he had, Robin!
The thing about Robin is, he's a fully trained horse, and hes even a bit on the older end- at about 13 years old. But, he's just the moodiest horse to step foot in this stables. He's only let Marquis ride him and literally will not be trained anymore then he is. Trust me, Robin's a good horse, just with a really really bad attitude.
Usually Marquis rides him bareback- just because Robin greatly preferred that. But, Burton had requested he ride him with a saddle today, he figured maybe it would help Walt if he could watch someone riding a more difficult horse as well. Obviously Mark went along with that, it wouldn't kill to ride Robin with a saddle. After all- Robin probably should get more used to it and learn to deal with it.
Most of the ride was just getting Robin to do what he's asked under saddle. He kept his feet moving for sure, he's one of those horses that if you don't keep his feet moving he'll throw a fit.
Robin was his usual self, tossing his head, whinnying, bucking, trying to bolt as always. Marquis was going to close of the ride with a bit of jumping, but Robin said otherwise.
hes was like this at every itty bitty jump that was set up. Marquis got thrown off a few times when trying to jump him.
Marquis was pretty sore after this ride...
Later in the evening...
"This is Mitternacht, this is Saturday, also known as Satan," Walt said as he lead Winfred through the small stables
"Why's he called that?" Winn asked.
Walt shrugged "Don't know, don't really wanna find out."
"Alright then," Winn replied.
"aaand that orangey horse over there is named like- Jester or something." Walt said.
"Wow, you know all these horses by name don't you?" Winn asked with a chuckle
"Maybe," Walt said.
"I assume you've been enjoying yourself here, huh Walty?" Winn asked smiling.
"Yeah, but, I really missed you," Walt admitted.
"I know, stuff happened, had to go see family quickly, then my plane had issues, but hey, I'm here now!" Winn assured him. Walt nodded. "so, how has it been here so far? I really didn't realize how expansive the place was, kinda baffled how they take care of it." Winn added
"They have people who are paid to help, But- it's been nice, I've had to help out with the horses and the horses are all cool," Walt said nodding.
"Have Burton and Mark been letting you ride any of the horses yet?" Winn asked
"Yah, Yah, They've both been giving me riding lessons and letting me ride some of the horses when one of them is out at the arena," Walt explained
"That must be fun, it's been awhile since I've ridden a horse heh" Winn said.
"But I still have to help with cleaning up crap and mucking out stalls." Walt huffed.
"You tell me, come here for the summer and do horsey stuff, orrr go to South Carolina again and deal with all of that drama for the summer" Winn told him.
"Good point!" Walt said
Walt and Winfred chatted in the stables, watching the chestnut arab and the other horses in their stall or paddock. Walt had insisted he give Winn a tour when he arrived, Burt and Mark would probably give him a proper tour the next morning. Walt had been showing Winn every and telling him their names. Along with that they discussed the whole plan with staying at an equestrian centre for the summer. Neither of them are really avid horsemen, but with their close friends buying the place and being invited, they decided to try it out. It was gonna be different for them of course, but nothing they couldn't handle. They though it'd be fun, usually every summer they'd leave England and go somewhere else for the entirety.
Walt kept going on and on about what he had done at the stables, Winn listening to him of course- It was starting to get darker out, Winn was hella jet-lagged from his trip too.
"Hey Walty, think we should start walking back so we're not walking back to Burt and Mark's house in the dark," Winn suggested
"We wont!" Walt said, perking up.
"Hmmmm yeah we will, they're house is on the other side of the property, and someone doesn't have their glasses on." Winn said raising an eyebrow.
"But I'm not done showing you all the horses!" Walt exclaimed perking up.
"Tomorrow Walty, we can have Burt and Mark show me everything around the stables and you can point out the horses, sound good?" Winn asked.
"fine." Walt muttered grumpily. Winn rolled his eyes with a little chuckled and....
